Farewell, Sweet Millie: A Tribute to Our Beloved Family Member
Milica “Millie” Josif, our dear Aunt, has left us with a heart full of memories and a legacy of kindness, at the age of eighty-seven.
Millie is survived by her sisters-in-law Darinka, Eva, & Mila. Also, her brothers-in-law, Dance & Boris and several cherished nephews & nieces and their children. Millie was preceded by her husband Andy, her parents Dime and Rosa, her brothers Pero, Gorce, and sister Rodna.
Born and raised in Perovo, Macedonia. Millie loved her country-of-origin Macedonia but came to America for greater opportunities for her family many years ago. Millie was a kind soul, who always saw the good in people.
A Quiet Legacy
Millie’s legacy lies not in grand achievements or material wealth, but in the countless lives she touched. She took pride in such things as cooking at an assisted care facility and as a caretaker for many others. Her acts of kindness rippled through everyone she encountered, leaving behind smiles and gratitude.
A Life of Simple Joys
Millie’s cozy little garden was her sanctuary. She tended to her flowers with care, coaxing them to bloom in vibrant colors. Her African Grey parrot, Corky, was her cherished companion and was quite the character. Millie often joked that he knew more curse words than the entire neighborhood combined. But she loved him dearly, and, oh, the language he picked up! Macedonian curse words, of all things!
Saying Goodbye
As we bid farewell to Millie, let us celebrate her sweetness, her green thumb, and Corky’s colorful vocabulary. She may not have had children, but she was a mother to us all. Her door was always open, and her heart even wider. She was always there to offer sage advice. She was the one who remembered birthdays and special occasions of her nieces and nephews and their children to their delight. We cherished the time we had with her and will always remember the life lessons she taught us and the love he showed us all.
She was also strong in her faith, so in her memory please feel free to donate to her Church,
St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Pinellas Park, in her memory.
Rest in peace, our dearest Millie. Your laughter, your garden, and your kindness will echo in our hearts forever.
